PROTOTYPE HISTORY

The earth has hidden treasures buried everywhere. None harder to find than the buried treasure under the sea. Oil rigs find treasurers buried deep under the sea. These floating structures are a small city on the water, with residential buildings, theaters, gymnasiums, and helipads. They have towers that shoot up, giving the rig its own skyline.

The first offshore oil rig was built in the United States in the 1930s. Configurations and technologies have changed a lot since then. Oil rigs continue to get bigger and bigger. The highest offshore oil rig platform is in Norway. Its height is 1,500’s, this is as high as the famous "Pearl of the Orient" in Shanghai. The deepest drilling by an oil rig is more than 40,000’.

These steel monsters are impressive. But very few people manage to see the offshore drilling platform in-person.

Metal-Time's engineers have made it easy for you to get to know about offshore platforms by creating our Treasure Finder model.

Assembling this model will give you hours of enjoyment, and when completed, you will have a great sense of accomplishment.

The Treasure Finder models lets you add ship and helicopter models, allowing you to build a complete offshore oil rig mockup on your desk.

Features

The Treasure Finder provides a challenging assembly. This model requires a strong attention to detail. The tower, crane, living quarters, and helipad, are functional. With lots of moving parts.

The platform helipad has a retractable canopy, with a miniature helicopter. After pulling back the canopy, the helipad rises and a staircase for passengers appears.

Sharing all the features and functionality of the Treasure Finder can be fun for friends, or the entire family. Who will be impressed by what you built!

There are a lot of possibilities for using the Treasure Finder model. You can teach a class about offshore oil drilling or give as a gift to someone who works in oil and gas.
