PROTOTYPE HISTORY

What could be better than a remote house, surrounded by the sea. Where on a clear, beautiful day you have stunning sunrises and sunsets, great views of the coastline, and the sounds of the waves crashing, and seagulls singing. But during stormy weather the waves crash down, the winds howl and the sun hides behind blackened clouds. But your job as the lighthouse keeper continues on. Whether it's a beautiful sunshiny day, or dark and stormy your job doesn’t change. You must make sure the lights don't go out and the radio keeps working. After all, the lives of sailors depends on it.

La Jumienne lighthouse is located in Bretonne. The lighthouse is built on a corner rock, and when bad weather hits it is completely isolated from the mainland. Dramatic photos have often been published in magazines, publication and websites around the world. The lighthouse has guided and protected ships from the rocky shoreline. There have been dozens of shipwrecks who did not heed the lighthouse is warnings. But since 1991, the lighthouse has been fully automated, and controlled remotely.

Lighthouses I've been a beacon of safety for vessels for hundreds of years. They have been guiding lights and amulets from danger come and often a source of inspiration for painters, and authors alike. The lighthouse was the last tale of one of America's great authors, Edgar Allan Poe. Unfortunately he never finished the writing. The movie production studio, Castle Rock adopted a lighthouse as its logo.

Since the beginning of navigation, lighthouses had been landmarks for sailors all over the world. What started out as just large bonfires, have now turned into computerized, and automated with complex radar systems, and extraordinary, powerful lighting.

The tallest lighthouse in history was an Alexandria, Egypt. it stood over 450 feet tall, and guided sailors for over 1000 years. Today the tallest lighthouse, the Jeddah Tower is much smaller. It stands around 400 feet tall and is in Saudi Arabia.

But the most famous lighthouse in the world is the Statue of Liberty, in New York. Lady liberty torch was more than a guiding light for ships, it also represented a beacon of hope end of a brighter future.

Features

Creating the Sailor's Companion, the Metal Time design team was inspired by photos of the La Jumienne lighthouse in a storm. Our team wanted to capture the harmonious beauty of the 100-meter superstructure, which is designed in typical European architecture. Although it was challenging to recreate such beauty using stainless steel, we are proud what our design team has accomplished.

The Sailors’ Companion, like a real lighthouse, is equipped with a rotating LED light. The light is powered fine electric motor using batteries. Making it completely mobile. Allowing the lighthouse to be used as a night light, or an evening decorative piece. It is perfectly complemented by our other ship models.
